(by Jogger, plot 2)
Plot 2 was in an overgrown and poor state when Jogger was offered the opportunity of taking over half of it. Here is how he brought it back to life.
March 2011 – work starts on my half of plot 2 – the plot is dug over and weeded, hard work fuelled by plenty of flasks of tea. After one week of hard graft the plot is ready for planting.
April 2011 – Getting ready for the manure delivery – I built a bay out of pallets to take my manure delivery so it was not in everyones way on the road.
June 2011 – I get offered the rest of plot 2 and work begins getting it up to the same standard as the rest of my plot.
June 2011 – With the help of my friends my polytunnel is put up and crops are away – peppers, aubergines, melons, cucumbers, sweetcorn and, of course tomatoes.
My friends and I had a bet about who could grow butter beans – I won!
First year crops – transplanted carrots (yes it did work!), late runner beans sown in August, garlic and shallots. I also established a strawberry bed and an asparagus bed, both should crop over the next few years.
